In commemoration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Soka Gakkai, SGI-Philippines successfully held a commemorative meeting on May 3, 2010.
A heartwarming message from SGI President Daisaku Ikeda was joyously presented
by the Youth Division Chief, Jeremias Zhel Cruz in congratulating the Philippine
members for holding such a meaningful occasion.
In commemoration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Soka Gakkai, SGI-Philippines successfully held a commemorative meeting on May 3, 2010.
In a heartwarming message from SGI President Daisaku Ikeda was joyously
presented by the Youth Division Chief, Jeremias Zhel Cruz in congratulating
the Philippine members for holding such a meaningful occasion. the message, Ikeda Sensei warmly encourages the members through the spirit
of many in body one mind, defining groaring lionsh as the chanting in oneness
with the mentor. And that the Soka Gakkai, as a proud lion should struggle
and advance-based on Mentor Toda`s will.
The message was followed by a short passage from the Gosho on gThe Blessings
of the Lotus Sutrah delivered by the Vice General Director, Manuel Urrutia
which goes gThe more gold is heated in the flames, the brighter will be its color;
the more a sword is whetted, the sharper it will become. And the more one
praises the blessings of the Lotus Sutra, the more onefs own blessings
will increase.h
The much awaited story of faith that brought tremendous change in the life of a certain women`s division member relating her struggles in fighting for kosen-rufu while overcoming financial difficulties and great illness moves the listeners and guests on the mystic power of chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo.
The occasion went even more stirring when the General Director, Roger Cabauatan
announces the Contribution Awards in commemoration of the 80th Anniversary of the Soka Gakkai being bestowed to the following pioneer members; Rizal Shibata, Yukiko
Habla, Judy Ong Ping Le and Fukue Daguman followed by the Commemorative
Medals in honor of the 50th Anniversary of President Ikeda as the third president of Soka Gakkai were presented by Mr. Rizal Shibata
to the top leaders; Yasunori Takimoto, Roger Cabauatan, Manuel Urrutia,
Ernesto Dipay, Yoshiko Shibata, Rosita Ngo Dee, Hisako Alcantara and Mary
Jane Musca.
Various performing groups such as Youth Division Chorus, YMD Brass Band, WD Sampaguita and Mabuhay chorus group presented varieties of songs to entertain the members and guests with a special performance from the Boys and Girls Division on poem recitation titled, A Mother`s Smile in tribute to the mothers of Soka.
SGI-Philippines General Director Roger Cabauatan on the other hand reiterated in his speech the three guiding principles set by Ikeda Sensei as follows: 1.) SGI Philippines will engage in the shared struggle of mentor and disciple; 2.) SGI-Philippines will unite in faith with the spirit of many in body one in mind; 3.) SGI Philippines will win happiness and victory. The latter led three cheers together with the members proudly telling gSensei Mabuhay! Sensei Forever! Sensei, Maraming Salamat po!h

SGI Philippines Celebrates the 80th Anniversary
of the Founding of the Soka Gakkai
The celebration of the 80th founding anniversary of the Soka Gakkai was
successfully held last November 18, 2010 at the Philippine Culture Center
in Quezon City. Members and leaders from different headquarters gathered
together in high spirit.
A heartwarming message from SGI President
Daisaku Ikeda was presented during the meeting in congratulating the Philippine
members for holding such a meaningful occasion.
In the message, President Ikeda warmly encourages
the members by quoting a passage from the Gosho which goes "Those who become Nichirenfs disciples and lay believers should realize the profound karmic relationship they share with him and spread the Lotus Sutra as he does. Being known as a votary of the Lotus Sutra is a bitter, yet unavoidable, destiny." (WND-1, 994)
SGI Philippines will boldly advance in leading
a correct existence basing ourselves on the guidance of President Ikeda,
the greatest mentor of the world, while looking forward towards the centennial
anniversary of the founding of the Soka Gakkai in 2030!
