The YWD Friendship General Meeting
The Young Women's Division conducted a Friendship General Meeting with the theme "Empowering Women of the 21st Century" last November 12, 2006.
The meeting was held simultaneously at the Manila Culture Center in Escolta
and the Philippine Culture Center in Timog, Quezon City.

"Sun of Hope" and "I Got Rhythm"
The purpose of the friendship activity is to encourage young women of today, stressing that each woman has her own beauty and inner strength that needs to be polished by overcoming difficulties in order to lead a winning life.
A Buddhist concept, "Changing Poison into Medicine" intensifies the theme as it explains that sufferings can be transformed into a springboard for growth and happiness by way of boldly overcoming them instead of giving up.
Selected famous women from various fields of industry such as Tina Turner, Rosa Parks, Dr. Hazel Henderson and Oprah Winfrey were then featured in a special audio visual presentation, highlighting their sufferings and how they rose up and achieved remarkable victory thus, leading to the enormous development of human rights and society as a whole.
A series of songs and folk and modern dance numbers from the Young Women's Division Performing Groups followed, along with the exhilarating performance of Diamond Kotekitai members showcasing their multiple talents.
YWD members and leaders shared their heartwarming stories in faith as they courageously fight to overcome various problems in life while striving to achieve inner positive change through the practice of Nichiren Daishonin's Buddhism.
More than 300 SGI friends attended the said activity giving rise to a 749 over-all attendance. The success of the YWD Friendship General Meeting is attributed to the untiring support of the Women's Division, Men's Division and Young Men's Division and with the great efforts of the Young Women's Division centering on the said event.
