Young Men's Division Training Course
was held at Grand Culture Center
The Young Men's Division held their unit leaders and members' seminar twice
at the Grand Culture Center in Tagaytay City
last April 26- 27 (first batch) and May 16-17 (second batch), 2008.
A total of 79 participants (43 + 36, respectively) from
different parts of the country were trained under
the leadership of the Young Men's Division Chief Harry Cruz.
The session was started by a Gosho lecture by Mr. Harry Cruz entitled "Happiness
in This World". The participants learned that there is no greater
happiness for human beings other than chanting Nam myoho renge kyo.
The famous passage, "Suffer what there is to suffer, enjoy that there
is to enjoy, regard both suffering and joy as facts of life, and continue
chanting Nam-myoho-renge-kyo" made the participants strengthen their
conviction to overcome all their difficulties in life and to chant more
daimoku.
The second session was led by Young Men's Division Vice Chief Rodel Paul
Sauza.
He discussed about the "Theory of Karma" and emphasized the important
points on eradicating negative karma and making good causes to achieve
true happiness.
The discussion was followed by a video presentation entitled, "Our
Shared Humanity"; this video is an introduction to the Buddhism of
Nichiren Daishonin and the Soka Gakkai Movement around the world.
One of the most important parts of the seminar was studying the guidance
of President Ikeda about the importance of "Faith, Practice and Study".
The participants enthusiastically asked questions and gave their suggestions during the open forum.
At the second day of the seminar, small group discussions were made.
These groups were lead by YMD Headquarter leaders and YMD General Chapter
leaders.
The participants discussed the importance of practicing for oneself and practicing for others.
Also, they shared their experiences and encouraged one another in their respective group.
During the closing ceremony, some participants shared their impression and conviction.
The seminar was very memorable to all of them, not only because they refreshed
their determination to fight for kosen-rufu, but they were also able to
make many friends as well.
Indeed, the seminar was a great success!
