The Order of the Knights of Rizal
has conferred the first ever
"Rizal International Youth Peace Award"
upon SGI President Daisaku Ikeda
on the significant day of May 3, 2008.

The conferral ceremony was participated by chapters and area commanders of the Knights of Rizal headed by Sir Virgilio R. Esguerra, Acting Supreme Commander and Sir Rogelio M. Quiambao, Past Supreme Commander with the presence of two distinguished guests; Sir Henry Von Segfried, Chapter Commander Los Angeles California, USA and Sir Ambassador Jaruslav Ludva, Area Commander, Czech Republic.
Mr. Quiambao presented an opening speech by discussing the meaning of Soka
Gakkai as "Value formation". He then introduces the various contributions
and writings of President Ikeda in his lifetime quest for peace. The conferment
of award was solemnly presented to Mr. Roger Cabauatan, General Director
of SGI-Philippines in behalf of President Daisaku Ikeda.
Mr. Cabauatan has then presented the response of President Ikeda, stressing
that the future is determined by the youth. In the fraternal message of
Sir Esguerra, he stated that the struggle of Dr. Daisaku Ikeda in this
materialistic world of today is something that we have to follow and abide
because these are the principles fought by Dr. Jose Rizal.
Mr. Esguerra further said "The Filipino people are still suffering
from political and economic misery. And this is the reason why we have
institutions like the Soka Gakkai International and this is the reason
why we have the order of the Knights of Rizal in the name of truth, justice,
freedom and liberty."
