Last August 17, 2008 the YMD Sokahan group held their 2008 Training Course
at the Youth Culture Center in Silang, Cavite.
This is the first ever training course held at YCC. At the arrival of venue proper, all the participants were very energetic and attentive for the much-awaited training.
Discussing the Philippine Kosen-rufu,
the main goal of SGI
Attentively learning the Fighting Spirit
Engaging in Tag of War with sweating
For most of the Sokahan members, this was their first time to visit the
YCC which makes this event even more memorable to them.
The meeting program includes 3 main activities. First of the three sessions was about the Philippine awards and recognition for President Ikeda. Both Vice Sokahan Chiefs clearly discussed the details through the video showing and the recognitions received by President Ikeda. President Daisaku Ikeda himself met with 2 of the former Philippine Presidents, received Honorable recognitions from the Order of the Knights of Rizal, as well as academic awards from several prestigious Philippine college and universities. During this session, Sokahan members voluntarily shared their personal experiences and encounters with Sensei during his Philippine visits. The presentation of these stories has indeed ignited the spirits of the Sokahan members. In the second session, an open forum was conducted to convey the main goal of SGI, which is to propagate Philippine Kosen-rufu. Propagate by definition is to transmit from one generation to the next, therefore being a member of the youth division, we should take control in transmitting the teachings of Nichiren Daishonin and disseminate the guidance of President Ikeda to as many people as we can.
Being a Sokahan, it is very significant to be aware of the evil functions
surrounding the Soka Gakkai International. On the third and final session,
one of the Unit Chief together with the Sokahan Chief explained different
priests and sects that obstructed SGI activities. A collaborative discussion
of SGI history based on the Gosho passages conveyed all the priest's evil
intentions and obstructions against the kosen-rufu movement plus its horrific
destruction of the sacred Head Temple in Japan.
The activities of the day however did not end here. The Sokahan team even
conducted a tug of war with different competing Sokahan Units. This goes
to show that the solidarity and unity of the Sokahan is very much stable.
This one day event was not only replete with extensive transfer of knowledge
but was also served with a mouthful of refreshments. As the event came
to a close, passionate conviction and impressions were shared by the highly
active unit leaders giving rise to renewed determination in all the participants.
