Nichiren Daishonin’s Birthday Commemorative
Gongyo Meeting held at
PCC
Last February 16, 2007, a commemorative gongyo meeting to celebrate Nichiren
Daishonin's Birthday was held at the SGI Philippine Culture Center in Quezon
City, Metro Manila.
A similar meeting was simultaneously held at other major culture centers throughout the nation.

Even before the
start of the meeting at the Philippine Culture Center, the building was already
fully occupied by the members and guests who have gathered to celebrate
Nichiren Daishonin’s birthday that night.
Then, at exactly 7:00 pm, a resonant evening gongyo was started with all the attendees led by SGI Vice President Takimoto.After that, SGI Philippine Vice General Director Roger Cabauatan gave a
short lecture of the Gosho entitled, "On Rebuking Slander of the Law
and Eradicating Sins" (WND, p. 444).
Following the lecture, a wonderful life experience was shared by Mrs. Lilian
Valenzuela from Caloocan chapter. It was about how she overcame her
financial difficulties and her daughter's sickness through the practice
of the Daishonin's Buddhism.
To celebrate the Daishonin's birthday, the commemorative meeting was colored
with wonderful entertainment and performances by the Diamond Kotekitai
and Mabuhay Chorus Group.
And amazingly, a total of 32 students from Soka University who are presently
studying at the University of the Philippines and Kalayaan College respectively
for Soka University English Intensive Program, have joined the meeting
and performed a wonderful chorus and Japanese dance in yukata.
Lastly, SGI Vice President gave a speech, quoting President Ikeda's recent guidance about human revolution.
