The World Peace Gongyo Meeting ( February 4, 2007)
Yasunori Takimoto
(SGI Vice President)
Good morning everyone!
I would like to wholeheartedly thank all of you for participating in today's
World Peace Gongyo Meeting in spite of having to come early in the morning
from far-away places and your hectic schedules just to attend, thank you
so much again!
Speaking of the month of February, 785 years ago in February 16, 1222,
Nichiren Daishonin was born;
Second president Josei Toda was born on February 11, 1900 - 107 years ago;
And in his youthful age of 24, Ikeda-Sensei achieved 201 shakubuku on a
single month of February (in 1952) as Kamata chapter's chief secretary.
In those days, the highest number of households being converted in a single month by even A Class chapters was 100. But with this achievement, Sensei was able to greatly break through the prevailing impasse. And this is where the term traditional month of February was started to be used.
As such, February is a month that shines brilliantly in the history of kosen-rufu.
In other words, February is month that has a profound significance of breaking
through the walls of one's inertia up until now and opening up a new age
in the process.
Therefore, let us each break through our individual walls and advance towards
victory with a renewed determination.
Now, the famous Japanese master Kaii Higashiyama mentioned the following words: "Exert one's utmost in living a life of sincerity."
In relation to this, Sensei gave the following guidance, "Here is nothing more powerful than sincerity. A person who has lived
his life and thoroughly fought with sincerity will win in the end. This
had been my belief and conclusion in life."
Let us consistently be sincere in striving for the advancement and victory of Philippine kosen-rufu with the spirit of oneness of mentor and disciple.
Let us livelily, boldly and cheerfully win in this month of February as we proudly live each single day while striving to chant and do shakubuku.
Let us do this in high spirits together with our General Director Niitsu
and Women's Division Chief, Mrs. Shibata.
Thank you very much again for today!
