Good morning everyone!
I would like to offer my heartfelt thanks to all of you for participating
in the July World Peace Gongyo Meeting coming so very early in the morning
and traveling from far distant places, thank you very much!
Together with all of you, I have offered prayers to the Gohonzon for world peace as well as the happiness of our respective families.
Well, Ikeda-Sensei gave the following guidance concerning the dignity of
human life: "We should think that everything rests in affirming the
dignity of human life. However, we should not only affirm the dignity of
our own life as a human being. Rather, we should place the source of all
consideration and putting exactly the same weight in equally affirming
the dignity of life of each of the more than 6 billion people. Moreover,
rather than losing it to the wind by vainly crying for this to society,
let us start to appeal about this matter more steadily to each of the person
around us. The truth is not something to be found in some faraway place.
If it is not brought to life concretely to the most familiar things around,
then where else can we find the truth?
The prime point of everything in society can be found in each single human
being. And what is the most difficult thing to change for man is none other
than each single person's life."
It is exactly
as Sensei has said. So, let us cherish each person's life from our respective
places.
Well, Sensei
has cried out the following in the June Headquarters Leaders Meeting held
on June 24:
"The essence
of Buddhism is 'mentor and disciple'; and it is the foundation of the Gakkai
spirit. The Gakkai has been built
into becoming a global organization by working devotedly for the sake of the mentor and fellow members. I firmly believe
that if mentors
Toda and Makiguchi were to see what Soka Gakkai is today, they will definitely
be satisfied and heartily
praise us.
Next, is you, the members of the youth division! If all of you devote yourselves in the oneness of mentor and disciple, the
Gakkai will prosper
throughout eternity. Please apply the word 'serious' and become earnest
and advance with many in
body, one in mind
in exact accord with the Daishonin's teachings.
Please have perfect harmony and have the awareness that each one of you are the President; that each one of you is the
responsible
person for kosen-rufu and build a Soka Gakkai that is truly the foremost
organization in the world!
Please triumph, no matter what. We do not need an organization for the sake of formalism and appearances. Instead, you
should generate
a thousand-fold of the present power. And the basis of bringing out that
power is daimoku. With resonant
gongyo and daimoku
- 'like the roar of a lion' (Gosho Zenshu, p. 764), please advance triumphantly
each single day."
As members of SGI Philippines, let us do our utmost in doing shakubuku in high spirits and advance cheerfully and
pleasantly
together with our General Director Roger Cabauatan and Women's Division
Chief, Mrs. Rosita Ngo Dee!
