The Mentor and Disciple Day Commemorative Gongyo Meeting (July 3, 2008)
Yasunori Takimoto
(SGI Vice President)
Good evening everyone!
I would like to wholeheartedly thank all of you for participating in today's
Mentor and Disciple Commemorative Gongyo Meeting, thank you very much!
Now, I was able to receive a beautiful book entitled "Words that Reverberate
in the Heart" from Sensei this summer.
And I would like to read a portion from that book and share it to all of
you.
"The modern family is similar to an airplane. The airplane called
the family is advancing by maintaining stability in the air while it is
using the violent wind resistance called society. The times have changed.
The family cannot always be a castle and remain unchanged forever. Rather,
knowing that it is an airplane, it should enjoy this operation and gaze
on the same distant direction with a wide perspective – this is similar
to today's healthy family. There may be times wherein it encounters storms
and would have to make an emergency landing. At such times, it should put
its wings to rest and by making re-adjustments, it can again take off vigorously.I
believe that the modern family that makes love as its foundation will undoubtedly
become an even healthier family by being ever solid as a plane."
Sensei has
taught us that our family will not remain unchanged as a castle forever;
rather, we should keep on advancing
with a wide
perspective while enjoying the environment where we are.
In the headquarters
leader's meeting held last June, Sensei gave the following guidance: "If
you chant the Mystic Law and dedicate
your lives to kosen-rufu, you will be able to manifest the great life force
of the Buddha. We are walking the path
of supreme happiness
called Buddhahood. So please struggle till the very end with such strong
conviction and triumph in all
your endeavors."
Let us boldly
advance in leading a correct existence basing ourselves on the guidance
of Ikeda-Sensei, the greatest mentor
of the world. Let us advance valiantly together with our General Director Cabauatan and Women's Division Chief, Mrs.
Rosita for
the sake of Philippine kosen-rufu in our endeavors in doing shakubuku in
a cheerful and enjoyable manner.
