Inscription of Dai-Gohonzon Commemorative Gongyo Meeting (October 12,
2008)
Yasunori Takimoto
(SGI Vice President)
Good morning everyone!
Allow me to offer my heartfelt appreciation to all of you for coming to PCC very early in the morning!
Now, as all of you very well know, 729 years ago today on October 12, 1279,
on the second year of Koan, Nichiren Daishonin inscribed the Dai-Gohonzon.
For us who believe in this Gohonzon and strive to practice and study everyday, the Gohonzon is indeed the foundation of becoming truly happy by overcoming all suffering and joy.
The following is the guidance of Ikeda-Sensei
about absolute happiness:
"What
is the purpose of faith? It is nothing other than to attain Buddhahood.
Or, more simply,
to
establish lasting happiness – to develop a state of absolute happiness
that nothing can destroy.
Then how can we secure a state of absolute happiness? It was Nichiren Daishonin who revealed
the
way to do so, and that is by chanting daimoku to the Gohonzon.
Surely nothing could be simpler. There is no greater philosophy or Buddhist teaching than the Daishonin’s,
which
enables all people to attain happiness." (The
New Human Revolution, Victory 30)
I was able to go to Mindanao's Davao Culture Center for two days, on October 4 and 5. On Sunday, October 5, a pleasant and
high spirited October World Peace Gongyo
meeting was held at the new culture center that was built with tremendous
effort by
the local members there.
As members of SGI Philippines, let us cheerfully,
pleasantly and harmoniously strive in doing shakubuku together with our
General Director Cabauatan and Women’s Division
Chief Ngo Dee!
Thank you very much again for patiently listening
to me today!
